A handy all-purpose sauce!
How to Make Crunchy Chili Oil
Wow, it’s another seriously hot summer this year!
So-o-o, since it’s so hot, why not beat the heat by eating something spicy? 💪
Today we’re introducing a crunchy “Peanut Chili Oil” you can eat by the spoonful 💁♀️ In Japan, this style is called “taberu rayu” (literally “chili oil you eat”): instead of using just a few drops for heat, it’s packed with crispy bits like fried garlic and spooned on as a topping.
The toasty aroma of peanuts and the spicy kick with fried garlic will whet your appetite ♪
Peanut chili oil goes with just about anything: somen noodles, chilled tofu, gyoza, you name it ✌️ Give it a try 😋

Directions
[Prep]
Thinly slice the onion and garlic, pat them dry with paper towels, then fry each separately in oil.

Chop the ★ ingredients into easy-to-eat pieces.
1. Put the vegetable oil and sesame oil in a frying pan over medium heat. When the oil starts to bubble, add the chopped ★ ingredients and stir.

2. Turn the heat down to low and cook for about 5 minutes, then add (A) and mix well.
Turn off the heat, let it cool slightly, and transfer to a jar. Done ♪

Tips for Making Peanut Chili Oil
- Fried garlic and onion burn easily, so fry them slowly over low heat until golden brown.
- If you want a crunchier texture, we recommend chopping the ingredients into larger pieces.
- Adjust the heat with the amount of sliced chili peppers. Mincing the chilies makes it even spicier!
